Luca

 

 

Luca Mazzone was born in Puglia, Italy in 1971, he loves soccer, box and body building. In 1990 Luca went for a swim in the Mediterranean sea, (something he normally did) but this time the impact against a rock was of fatal fate: medullary lesion of the sixth cervical vertebra.

Life after the incident was of great difficulty for Luca who as a consecuense remained on a wheelchair. After some time he decided to return to sport, this time as a paralympic swimmer. The results of his choice were good but not enough for him to keep fighting for higher realms. He then decided to quit in 2008.

In 2011 Luca discovers handbike (paracycling road) and with this new discipline, he achives great results and grew into a great champion.

In 2017 Luca became the most prizewinning athlete of the last worldchampionships in South Africa, from 2013 to today, he won 11 world titles and 5 paralympic medals.

For Luca, hard work and determination are his closest life partners, his tenacity and perseverance are an example of true sportive and life spirit.
